Margot Kokke has been a legally qualified judge at the Unified Patent Court since its opening on 1 June 2023. She was appointed to the LD (Local Division) The Hague, where she also presides over cases. In addition, she serves as an international judge in other UPC LDs. From 2014 until recently she was also a senior (patent) judge at the District Court The Hague, a position from which she stepped down to join the UPC full-time. She holds an LL.M. as well as a BSc in Chemistry) and an MSc in Biochemistry, all from Leiden University. Prior to becoming a judge, she worked as an (IP) lawyer in private practice in the Netherlands for over ten years, as well as working as a consultant in international environments on three continents in the private sector and with (supra-)national organizations. She regularly speaks at conferences.
