Tatsuya Koyama is a partner in Mayer Brown’s IP practice in Washington DC. Mr. Koyama advises clients on complex IP matters, particularly offensive patent litigations involving consumer products, and helps companies maximize patent assets value. Mr. Koyama has represented clients before US federal district courts and the International Trade Commission, with experience across all stages of patent litigation from pre-suit diligence through trial. Before joining Mayer Brown, Mr. Koyama spent 15-plus years in Hitachi, Ltd.’s IP department, working in the patent group, strategy and policy planning office, and licensing group. That experience spans patent prosecution, licensing strategies, litigation support, settlement negotiations, IP transactions, and strategic planning. Mr. Koyama draws on in-house and private practice perspectives to advise on technical, licensing, and strategic issues, as well as issues that Japanese companies frequently face. Mr. Koyama holds an LLM from the University of Chicago and engineering and legal degrees from Keio University.
