Kenichi Nagasawa joined Canon Inc. in 1981. Since then Mr Nagasawa has worked in the IP field for more than 40 years. After serving as the head of intellectual property group of Canon Europe and Canon USA, he was appointed group executive of corporate intellectual property and legal headquarters in 2010. After that, he became a director in 2012, a managing executive officer in 2016, a senior managing executive officer in 2021, and senior general manager of the economic security office from January 2022. He has been president of AIPPI Japan, LES Japan, and vice chair Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA). He has also been a member of several IP-related committees and subcommittees organised by METI and JPO for many years. He currently holds important positions in IP-related organisations, such as adviser at Takaoka IP, adviser at IP Agent Corp, advisor Genzo AI Corp, , councillor, Japan Patent Information Organization (Japio), Member of Expert Committee of Economic Security Act, Cabinet Office, guest professor, Osaka Institute of Technology, and guest professor, Kanazawa Institute of Technology.
