Peter Merz is currently leading the research and innovation unit within technology standards at Nokia. This unit is tasked with developing comprehensive concepts and innovations for radio interface and access, core networks and multimedia technologies ensuring these innovations are effectively integrated into external standardisation bodies and fora. Peter is a proven technology and thought leader. He can execute defined strategies by leading successfully multi-stakeholder projects and programmes global setups. Peter initiated and founded the industry consortium CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface). He has been involved with the set-up of several collaborative projects spanning from 4G to 6G. He is a member of the VDE supervisory board, the board of Münchner Kreis and he is the creator of the landmark annual Brooklyn Summit event. He is frequently invited to share his insights via keynotes on topics including the transformational power of AI for 6G.
