Shayne O’Reilly is director and associate general counsel, head of licensing and open source at Meta Platforms Inc, (formerly Facebook, Inc.) where he leads a team responsible for IP licensing and transactions, standards, open source, generative AI, M&A IP due diligence, and high risk initiatives. Shayne previously served as associate general counsel for IP litigation at Meta where he managed domestic and international intellectual property litigation matters. Before joining Meta, Shayne worked at Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton LLP. Shayne is a recipient of the Silicon Valley Business Journal 40 under 40 award, Minority Corporate Counsel Association Rising Star award, National Bar Association Diversity in Tech award, and African American Managing Partner and General Counsel Network Rising Star In-House Counsel of the Year award. Shayne serves on the board of The Ron Clark Academy and the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League. Shayne holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University and a JD from the UNC at Chapel Hill School of Law.
