Ms Elizabeth Sharon Capan, serves as chief patent officer and chief compliance officer for Cloudbreak Pharma, roles she has held since September 2022 and November 2023. She leads the group’s global patent portfolio team, guides the intellectual property strategy and development, serves as primary legal adviser for commercial contracts as well as licensing and strategic partnerships, and oversees compliance processes. A highlight of her recent work is Cloudbreak’s successful Initial Public Offering in Hong Kong, where she directed the patent, legal, and compliance strategy throughout. Ms Capan has more than 16 years of experience in global intellectual property development. She began her career in November 2007 as a U.S. Patent Examiner and Authorized PCT Officer with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where she gained valuable perspectives on the U.S. and international patent systems. Her experience further includes roles such as intellectual property counsel at 3M Company, assistant chief patent counsel at Dynamics Inc., followed by private legal practice at Fish & Richardson P.C., in both the United States and Germany. She subsequently served as director and U.S. Patent Attorney at Advancing Innovation ESC AB in Sweden and later as a global IP counsel at BASF in Germany. Ms Capan was admitted to the U.S. Patent Bar in 2009 and to the Minnesota Bar in 2013. She earned her Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and holds two bachelors degrees in arts and sciences from the University of Pittsburgh.
