Will Cheng manages LinkedIn’s trade secrets and global patent portfolio by executing trade secret strategy and patent strategy for all of LinkedIn’s lines of business. Will collaborates with LinkedIn’s leadership, engineering, and product teams to protect LinkedIn’s industry-leading technologies, including generative AI model architectures, agentic networks, graph databases, cloud computing, and data security techniques. Before LinkedIn, Will managed patent harvesting and patent procurement for Lyft’s autonomous vehicle and micromobility vehicle divisions, managed Lyft’s open-source software programme, and managed and negotiated the licensing of Lyft’s IP assets. Outside the office, Will is passionate about music production and surfing and provides pro bono services to non-profit environmental organisations that protect our oceans and beaches.
