Fumitomo Hide has over 20 years of experience in patent monetisation and patent prosecution. In his current role as director, IP at Sila Nanotechnologies, he is responsible for all aspects of patent portfolio development and steering, invention harvesting, offensive and defensive actions, and other business-critical IP projects. Sila Nanotechnologies is a US based manufacturer of high-capacity silicon anode materials as graphite replacements in lithium-ion batteries, with headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area and a 613,000 square-foot automotive-scale manufacturing plant in Moses Lake, Washington state. Before his role at Sila, he served as CTO at Manutius IP, a semiconductor patent licensing company; senior IP strategy director at Rambus, focusing on IP relating to LED lighting and displays; and IP technologist at IPValue Management, monetising optoelectronics patents originating from Xerox PARC. Dr Hide holds a PhD in physics from UC Santa Barbara and an SB in physics from MIT and is a co-inventor on over 30 patents and patent applications.
