Otto Licks is one of the founding partners of Licks Attorneys, a Brazilian law firm with more than 350 professionals across six offices in Brazil, Japan (Tokyo), and China (Shenzhen). With more than 30 years of experience in the patent field, Otto is widely recognised for his work in complex litigation and public policy, particularly in the ICT, technology, and life sciences industries. Before entering private practice, Otto served as a treaty officer at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC, and as a UNDP consultant to Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the country’s implementation of the WTO TRIPS Agreement and the enactment of its current Patent Statute in 1996. His practice focuses on patent validity and enforcement, SEP litigation, monetisation strategies, trade secrets, unfair competition, and regulatory exclusivity.
